「Mr. Brightside」はアメリカはラスベガスのロックバンド、ザ・キラーズが2003年に発表した楽曲です。

ファーストアルバム『Hot Fuss』に収録されてます。キラーズで最も有名な曲です。タイトルは「楽観主義者」ですが、「嫉妬」の方がしっくり来ます。最後も「こんなはずじゃなかった」とオチがあります。自分を「ミスター楽観主義者」と名乗りながら、嫉妬、疑心、怒り、悲しみに満ち溢れてるアイロニカルな歌詞です。美しい表現は多いですよ。

歌詞は１番２番の繰り返し。もっとストーリー性あっても良かったんじゃないかな。そういった意味では今後キラーズの歌詞は進化していきます。
