Drag Me Down/One Direction 解説

「Drag Me Down」は、ゼイン・マリクがグループを脱退してから約4か月後にサプライズリリースされた楽曲です。事前告知やプロモーションはほとんどなく、リアム・ペインがSNSで突然公開を発表したことで世界中のファンを驚かせました。当初はもう少し後に配信される予定だったとも言われています。

リアムはテレビ番組『The View』で、この曲はファンに向けた楽曲だと語っています。ゼイン脱退後は「4人でやっていけるのか」と不安視する声も多かった時期ですが、「誰にも僕たちを引きずり下ろすことはできない」というタイトルも含めて、ファンへの感謝や前向きな決意を込めた1曲として受け取られています。
