Memories/Maroon 5 解説

マルーン5がGirls Like Youのレコーディングを終えた2017年の年末ごろ、バンドを長く支えてきたマネージャーが病気で急死してしまいました。Girls Like Youはその後リリースされると、全世界で大ヒット。 2019年5月開催のビルボード・ミュージック・アワードでは見事に4部門で受賞しました。

この快挙を亡くなったマネージャーに伝えたくて作られたのが、このMemoriesです。歌詞の中では賞を受賞したことに対する感謝とともに、受賞の瞬間に大切な人がいない悲しみが歌われています。

ちなみにMemoriesとは直訳で「思い出」という意味ですが、この曲では特にスラングでもなくそのままの意味で使われていますね。
