Self Care/Mac Miller 解説

「Self Care」はアメリカのラッパー、Mac Miller(マック・ミラー)の楽曲です。

タイトルのSelf Careとは「自己治療」を意味するワード。彼自身はリリース前の2018年5月に恋人のアリアナ・グランデと破局、また自動車の自損事故を起こすなど精神的にも参っていました。そんな中で自分自身を「自己治療」しよう、という気持ちが込められています。

歌詞の中では、まだ断ち切れないアリアナへの想いを露わにしています。一時期とくらべて注目度は斜陽気味、しかし彼にとっては自分自身を見つめなおすいい時間だった、ともとれるような歌詞の表現もちらほら見られますね。

個人的には「Good News」から好きになったマック・ミラー。もう亡くなってしまった彼の新しい曲を聴けないと思うと寂しい。楽曲やMVのアーティスティックな表現も好きですが、内面的な歌詞も彼の大きな魅力ですよね。
