「21st Century Breakdown」はカリフォルニア州バークレー(アメリカ)のロックバンド、グリーン・デイが2009年に発表した楽曲です。

グリーン・デイの８枚目のアルバム『21st Century Breakdown』のタイトルナンバー。
前作『American Idiot)』から５年ぶりのアルバム(2009年)。
ニルヴァーナの『ネヴァーマインド』を手がけたブッチ・ヴィグがプロデューサーです。

アルバム『21st Century Breakdown』はグロリアとクリスチャンの２人の若者が主人公の３部構成コンセプトアルバムになってます。

第1幕「英雄と詐欺師」
第2幕「ペテン師と聖人」
第3幕「馬蹄と手榴弾」

それでいて楽曲の方の「21st Century Breakdown」も３部作になってるので分かりづらいですね。
３部作の中に３部作入れてるんで。
この曲だけでアルバム成立します。かといって後半に名曲「21 Guns」出てくるのも、さすがグリーン・デイです。

絶望の中に希望の光が見える素晴らしい歌詞。勇者の歌。
