「Back & Forth」のMVは、なんとアリーヤの15歳の誕生日である1994年1月16日に撮影されました。しかもデトロイトでの撮影場所は、当時アリーヤ自身が通っていた高校。撮影当日には地元のティーンもたくさん集められ、体育館で踊ったりバスケットボールをしたりするシーンに出演しています。

しかも撮影はこれだけでは終わりません。ロサンゼルスの体育館で撮影している最中にノースリッジ地震が発生し、いったん撮影を中断することになったそうです。安全が確認されてから撮影は再開されました。ちなみに、このMVがアリーヤにとって初めてのMVで、撮影の合間には2パックやウータン・クラン、ギャング・スターなどを聴いていたそう(選曲が渋すぎる)。

さらに面白いのが、このMVの成功によってデビューアルバムの発売日まで前倒しされたことです。当初は6月14日発売予定だった『Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number』が、MVが若い層に急速に広まり、MTVも予想以上に早く取り上げたことで5月24日発売に変更されました。デビュー直後からここまで勢いに乗っていたと思うと、アリーヤのスタートダッシュがすごすぎますね。
