「You Know How We Do It」はアメリカのラッパー、アイス・キューブが1994年にリリースした楽曲です。アルバム『Lethal Injection』からのシングルで、90年代西海岸ヒップホップを代表するような1曲ですね。

Gファンクらしいメロウなビートがとにかく心地よくて、ゆったりしてるのにめちゃくちゃ渋いです。夜に車で流したくなるタイプの曲ですね。アイス・キューブって攻撃的なラップのイメージも強いんですが、本曲はかなりチル寄り。個人的には「It Was a Good Day」と並んで、この空気感がたまらなく好きです。

当時のアイス・キューブは、N.W.A脱退後のソロキャリアを完全に確立していた時期で、本曲もBillboard Hot 100で最高30位を記録しています。

本曲ではイヴリン・キングの「The Show Is Over」、クール&ザ・ギャングの「Summer Madness」、さらにマイケル・ジャクソンの「Billie Jean」までサンプリングされていて、あの独特の浮遊感あるGファンクサウンドを作り上げています。サンプリング元が強すぎる…。

ちなみにMVはラスベガスで撮影されていて、アイス・キューブたちがコンバーチブルに乗ってカジノを回る内容になっています。90年代西海岸ヒップホップの“余裕ある空気感”がそのまま映像になった感じですね。
