Stay Young/Oasis 歌詞和訳と意味

「Stay Young」はオアシスが1997年にリリースした「D’You Know What I Mean?」のB面曲です。のちにB面集アルバム『The Masterplan』にも収録されました。

初期のオアシスらしいロックンロールなサウンドに、ギャラガー兄弟(というかリアムかも)のキャラクターがモロに出た歌詞が個人的に大好きな一曲です。正直一番好きかもしれません。

Stay Youngはそのまま「若いままでいろ」という意味ですが、特にオアシス解散後のリアムを見ていると、このStay Youngという言葉を今だに心に据えて音楽に向かっている感じがしますよね。それでは和訳を見ていきましょう！

Stay Young/Oasis 解説

「Stay Young」はもともと『Be Here Now』用に制作された楽曲でした。ただ最終的にはアルバム未収録となり、「D’You Know What I Mean?」のB面としてリリースされています。ノエル・ギャラガー自身はそこまで気に入っていなかったようですが、リアムがかなり好きだったらしく、B面集『The Masterplan』への収録を強く希望したそうです。

ちなみにノエルは、「Stay Young」を『Definitely Maybe』の「Digsy’s Dinner」や『Morning Glory』の「She’s Electric」みたいな、少し軽快で遊び心のあるポジションの曲として考えていたとのこと。ただ結果的には「Magic Pie」が採用されることになりました。

最初はギャラガー兄弟が労働者階級出身の出自からきた反骨精神でこんな歌詞を書いたのかなーなんて思っていましたが、今は違います。きっと彼らがどんな場所でどんな身分で生まれたとしても、「若いままでいる」という言葉のままに生きただろうという気がします。

彼らの今の生きざまを見ながら、このStay Youngを聴くと、「よっしゃやってやるぜ！」と毎回奮い立ちますね。この曲が好きな人がもっと増えたら良いなと思います。
