Welcome To The Black Parade/My Chemical Romance 解説

マイケミの代表的なアルバム「The Black Parade」の中でもっとも人気のあるこの曲。アルバムにはコンセプトがあり、若くして癌で死にゆく患者を描いたものになっています。

その中でこの曲が表現しているのは、病院のベッドで死にゆくシーン。歌詞の意味的には、小さい頃父親に語られた言葉を思い出し弱い人たちを励ます存在になろうとする、そんなところでしょうか。

この曲はMTVでヘビロテされ、2017年には「世紀のグレイテスト・ビデオ賞」に選ばれました。それだけあって、MVはとても印象的でアルバムのコンセプト通りの作り込みがなされています。

ちなみにこのMVを撮ったのはあのNirvanaの「Smells Like Teen Spirit」も手がけたサミュエル・ベイヤーです。納得のクオリティですねー。
