「Green Green Grass」はジョージ・エズラ自身が2018年に訪れたカリブ海の島国、セントルシアでの体験を歌った曲です。

彼が現地でストリートパーティを目にしました。人々が音楽に合わせて踊り、食事を作っている光景をみて「祭りなんだ」と思ったのですが、実際は死者を送り出す「葬儀」だということを知ります。その時彼は「送り出す人々は、死んだ人々の人生を祝っているんだ」と感じたそうです。

イギリス的な厳粛な葬儀文化とは対照的に、「死を悲しみだけで終わらせず、人生を祝福する」という文化に強い感銘を受け、それが曲の核なっています。それを踏まえて曲を聴いてみると、単なる逃避行的なラブソングではなく、死生観を訴えている曲だという見方に気づきます。
