Counting Stars/OneRepublic 解説

「Counting Stars」は、ボーカルのライアン・テダーが作詞・作曲を担当しています。当時のライアンは、家や生活、お金の不安などを抱えていて、「どうやって人生を成り立たせていくか」を考えていたそうです。“counting dollars”ではなく“counting stars”というフレーズも、そうした感覚から生まれました。

MVはニューオーリンズで撮影されていて、教会の礼拝とバンド演奏が同時進行する少し不思議な演出になっています。ちなみにこのMVは、バンドとして史上初めてYouTubeで10億再生を突破したMVでもあります。今では40億再生を超えていて、2010年代洋楽の象徴みたいな存在になりました。ワンリパブリックといえばやっぱり「Counting Stars」を思い浮かべる人かなり多い気がします。
