「Hurricane」はアメリカ合衆国ミネソタ州ダルース出身のボブ・ディランが1975年に発表した楽曲です。

この曲は1966年にニュージャージー州で起きた殺人事件で、人種差別から無実の罪を着せられたプロボクサー、ルービン・“ハリケーン”・カーターの実話です。

具体的な名前を挙げて、警察の強引な捜査や偽証の強要を描写してます。一部は法的なリスクを避けるため書き直されてます。
ジェントルマン・ジムは19世紀の白人ボクサー、ジェームス・J・コーベットの愛称で、人格者でもありました。

その後ですが「Hurricane」のおかげで社会的関心を呼び起こし、再審が行われました。
1985年にルービン・カーターはようやく無罪となって、釈放されたのです。事件発生から約20年かかりました。
