Eleanor Rigby/The Beatles 解説

「Eleanor Rigby」はリバプール(イギリス)のロックバンド、ビートルズが1966年に発表した楽曲です。ポールの作品です。

ポールはアコギの弾き語りで演奏しましたが、ジョージ・マーティンのアイデアで２組の弦楽四重奏に決まったそうです。ポールの提案は “とがった音にするように” でした。

「エリナー・リグビー」の名前の由来は映画『ヘルプ！』で共演したエリナー・ブロンと、ポールがブリストルの街を歩いてる時に見つけた店の名前の『リグビー』を合わせたものでしたが、どうやらポールがジョンと遊んだウールトン墓地に「エリナー・リグビー」の墓があったので、名前の深層心理が残っていたとポール自身が分析してます。しかも数ヤード離れた場所にマッケンジーの墓もありました。

現在「エリナー・リグビー」の墓はファンの聖地になってるそうです。

ビートルズにしては絶望的なナンバーです。
