Memories/Conan Gray 解説

「Memories」は、アルバム『Superache』から最初に公開されたシングルです。コナン・グレイはリリース前からSNSで楽曲を予告していて、ファンの間でもかなり期待されていた1曲でした。

本人によると、この曲は別れた相手が何度も自分の前に現れてしまい、前へ進めなくなる経験をもとに書いたそうです。「友達として会いたい」と言われても、結局は傷ついてしまう。その複雑な心境を描いた楽曲として制作されました。

ちなみにMVにはアメリカの俳優、モンロー・カペルホフが出演しています。元恋人との思い出が頭から離れず、前へ進もうとしても過去に引き戻されてしまう様子がドラマ仕立てで描かれていて、歌詞の世界観ともかなりリンクしています。コナン・グレイのMVはストーリー性が高い作品が多いですが、本作も最後まで見入ってしまいますね。
