I Will Survive/Gloria Gaynor 解説

この曲の作詞を担当したのはモータウン・レコード所属のDino Fekaris。彼は7年ほど勤めてきたモータウン・レコードを辞めさせられそうになっていました。

そんなある日、彼がテレビをつけるとRare Earth(レア・アース)というバンドが自分の作曲した歌を演奏していました。

それを見た彼は、「自分のやってきたことが無駄ではなかった。まだまだやれる！作曲家として生き残ってやる(I will survive)！」

と思い、この曲を書いたそう。なので本当は「逆境に自分を奮い立たせる曲」なんですよね。とはいっても、普通に聴いただけではわからないですが(笑)
