Old Me/5 Seconds of Summer 解説

オーストラリア出身の5SOS(バンド名の略です)が活動を始めたのは2011年。有名曲のカバーをYouTubeにアップしたのがきっかけで人気に火がつきました。今でこそYouTubeやらInstagramで有名人が生まれる時代ですが、当時はまだまだマイナーなことで彼らは良くも悪くも話題になりました。

大学の学友で結成された5SOS。このまま大学を卒業して普通に仕事に就く方が安心でしたでしょうし、周りの大人たちにも引き留めにあったでしょう。YouTubeというメディアからどこまで成功できるかなんて、誰にもわからないことです。

それでも彼らは自分を信じ、バンド活動に専念。その結果、世界中で人気のバンドに成長しました。この「Old Me」は、成功を信じた昔の自分への感謝と、それに恥じない自分になるという決意表明が込められた曲です。
