If I Can’t Have You/Shawn Mendes 解説

If I Can’t Have Youは、ある女性を忘れられず、思いを伝えなかったことを後悔する男性を描いた歌詞になっています。ショーン・メンデスによると、イギリスのグループThe 1975にインスピレーションを受けて書いた曲だそうです。

ちなみにこの曲、当初はイギリスの女性シンガーDua Lipaに提供するつもりで作られていたとか。ただ作曲を進めていくうち、ショーン・メンデス自身が歌うことになっていったそうです。余談ですが、この曲はアイデアが出てから完成まで2カ月かかったらしいです。
