Good News/Mac Miller 解説

「Good News」は、2018年にリリースされたアルバム『Swimming』と対になる作品として制作された『Circles』から生まれた楽曲です。マック・ミラーは生前から『Swimming in Circles』という構想を持っていたそうで、『Swimming』の続編として制作が進められていました。

しかし2018年9月にマック・ミラーが26歳で亡くなったため、アルバムは未完成の状態で残されることになります。その後、『Swimming』でもタッグを組んでいたプロデューサーが制作を引き継ぎ、遺族と協力しながら完成させました。かなり難しい作業だったと思います。

ちなみにMVは、スタジオでのマック・ミラーの映像とアニメーションを組み合わせた作品になっています。公開当時はアルバム発表のニュースと重なったこともあり、多くのファンにとって特別な1曲になりました。この曲が死後に発表された作品だと知ったうえで聴くと、どうしても胸に来るものがありますね。
