Viva La Vidaは、かつて自分の王国を持っていた王が国を失い、武力によって国を取り返すストーリーを描いた曲になっています。歌詞には聖書や史実に由来する表現が盛り込まれており、解説無しに理解するのは非常に難しいです。
まずタイトルになっているViva La Vidaはスペイン語で「Live My Life(自分の人生を生きる)」という意味の言葉で、メキシコの画家であるフリーダ・カーロの作品の名前に由来しています。
