「Where Is the Love?」は、2001年のアメリカ同時多発テロ、いわゆる9・11の社会不安を背景に制作されました。当時のブラック・アイド・ピーズはまだ現在のようなパーティー路線ではなく、社会性の強いヒップホップグループとして活動していたため、本曲には初期の彼ららしいテイストが強く見られます。

パリ同時多発テロやアメリカの銃乱射事件など、再び社会不安が顕著になってきた2016年、彼らは再度「Where Is the Love?」を再録音してリリースします。

タイトル表記は「#WHERESTHELOVE」。ジャスティン・ティンバーレイクが再び参加したほか、アッシャーやジェイミー・フォックスなど名だたるアーティストたちが集いました。売上はwill.i.am の慈善団体「i.am.angel foundation」に寄付されています。だいぶアレンジが現代風に加えられていますが、こちらのバージョンも聴きごたえがあるので、興味がある方はぜひ。
